Tonight at the Paper Heart: America: Freedom to Fascism [Mar. 14th, 2007|02:56 pm]
Grand Avenue Tonight, The most important talk show

Subversive Film Series

America: Freedom to Fascism

Want to see how our great-grandparents were sold into slavery in the early 1900's? Want to learn the truth about income taxes and the true source of government control over the American public? Join us on Wednesday, March 14th for a screening of a very special film.

Determined to find the law that requires Americans to pay income tax, Aaron Russo (THE ROSE, TRADING PLACES) sets out on a journey. Neither left- nor right-wing, this startling examination exposes the systematic erosion of civil liberties in America. Through interviews with US Congressmen, a former IRS Commissioner, former IRS and FBI agents, tax attorneys and authors, Russo connects the dots between money creation, federal income tax, voter fraud, the national identity card (becoming law in May 2008) and the implementation of radio frequency identification (RFID) technology to track citizens. A striking case about the evolving police state in America.

Film will start @ 9:30 pm

"Grand Avenue LIVE!" is the first live-on-stage talk show of its kind in Phoenix.  Mining the downtown art scene for the weird and wonderful, "Grand Avenue LIVE!" is a beacon shining upon all things interesting.

Poet, photographer, and downtown denizen, Kevin Patterson has taken over hosting duties from boy wonder, Ryan Avery.  With former co-host Brodie Foster Hubbard's flight to Hollywood, some of Downtown Phoenix's bright up-and-comers (with the occasional won't-get-there and sprinkles of has-beens) rotate in each month.

Johnathan Standifird, leader of piano-driven indie rock band, Paper Box, handles musical director and science correspondent duties, taking over for Andrew & the Max Power Orchestra.  Harnessing the chaos and channeling it toward good is "Grand Avenue LIVE!'s" one constant, producer JRC of The Trunk Space.

This month, February 2007, Kevin is joined by Jose Gonzalez (of Galapagos, Dangerville, The Remainders, and the Phoenix Improv Festival) as co-host, with Lolita Haze (The Nymphet of Burlesque) as his guest.  February's show will also feature two new segments - The Newlywed Game (with contestants, Will & Vaiden, Liam & Emily!, and Leslie & Matt) and Cooking with Mario (chef extraoirdinaire).

"Grand Avenue LIVE!" will be on Thursday, February 1st, at 8pm, at The Trunk Space in Downtown Phoenix.

I just took over the maintence on this myspace page.

I plan to use the site to promote the show off the hook. And by off the hook, I mean like a fish you catch but throw back because it is too small.

Can you imagine how difficult for the fish that must be?

Grand Ave. Live is a smash success!!

Jaba The King of the Hut –Sci-Fi Pimp

"Fuck you Patterson."
James K Polk -Dead US President-

“kevin patterson is perfect for the role of talk show host. he is establishment enough to make it legit and counter culture enough to to perpetuate the parody. he along with brody hubbard and jrc put together a great event. it's amazing i never heard of this thing until kevin took over the hosting duties. and hey, i always wanted to be on a talk show and now i can say i was. i will pitch jokes for his monologue from now until when ever it's over.”
Bill Campana -Legendary Slam Poet-

“and when I talked to the DJ, he looked at me as if I was from another planet when I asked him to play Ashlee Simpson.
After about a minute pause, he said, “I only play old stuff.”
“Like Hanson and the Spice Girls?” I asked.
He was not amused.”

Nicki Escudero -AZ Reporter-

See it live, and for now, only live.
Next Show Dec 7.

It’s the Christmas/Pearl Harbor/Good Bye Brodie Hubbard Show.
Come on and get some.
